Photography Challenge - Week 8
12th May - 19th May 2020
Photography challenges are a great way to develop your photography skills, learn new techniques and test your creativity. Why not get involved in this week’s challenge and try something new? Each challenge has been designed to encourage members to continue their photography while trying new things, practicing different techniques and flexing their creativity.
This week's challenge is...
How to get creative
From wayward shoelaces to different surface textures, there are a few challenges you can expect to face for this week’s challenge. As always though, the key thing to keep in mind is the light. What mood do you want to create? What type of light will best show the material of the shoe? What are the key features that need to be lit? When you break it all down and think about the shot, you’ll see that creating a good image of a shoe suddenly doesn’t seem so impossible. There’s plenty of ways you can get creative too! Try different backgrounds, experiment with long exposures and light painting (as we did in our live footwear photoshoot) or even try a more ‘lifestyle’ approach.
If you’ve never photographed shoes or footwear before, the classes below provide a few different setups and ideas, as well as include a number of tips that you may find useful.
About the challenge
We’d love for all our members to get involved in our weekly challenges, but to ensure everyone gets maximum benefit from these, there are a few guidelines...
- Members can submit any one image (taken at any time) for the challenge but in the spirit of the challenge we encourage you to post images taken during the week. A second image can be uploaded to show this (i.e with your phone in shot with the date showing).
- All images submitted to our Facebook group will be displayed in a members gallery on Karl Taylor Education.
- Images should be 2000px on the longest side.
