Live Photoshop Demonstration

Following on from our previous Post Production Techniques live show, in this session Karl addresses the reasons why we retouch images, how we can identify what to retouch and how much retouching is required.

Working through various examples, Karl talks through his retouching workflow, explaining what he looks for in an image before starting his post-production process. He then demonstrates different tools and techniques that he commonly uses, including the liquify tool, burning and dodging and colour adjustments, to name a few.

Topics covered in this show include:

  • Why we retouch photos
  • Common Photoshop tools for photographers
  • Professional retouching workflow
  • Photoshop liquify tool
  • Retouching skin using burning and dodging
  • File size & bit depth
  • How to adjust colour in Photoshop

If you haven’t yet watched the previous post-production live show, you can find it here. To learn more about any of the techniques covered in this show, watch our Photoshop for Photographers course.

  1. To see the bottom layer without having to deselect all the layers, just press “Alt + eye of the layer you want to see”. No need to relocate the background layer (to much hassle :P).

    1. Hi Jan, yes that works but there are many times where you want to compare it with 4 or 5 layers left on so you can compare with various stages of the workflow.
