No matter how much planning you do, things always end up not going perfectly to plan. Watch as Karl and the team depart on their trip to Iceland and see how not all went totally smoothly when bad weather struck and the first photo shoot went wrong.
Try, try and try again. Persistence paid off for Karl and the team as they finally perfect the Jökulsárlón shoot that didn’t work so well the day before. Even if still in not perfect weather conditions the kit still held up and allowed Karl to capture some great shots on a beautiful, classic Icelandic background.

In a previous chapter Karl got some great landscape shots at the DC-3 Plane crash site but this time Karl wanted try and get some fashion shots in the same location – this chapter includes his first attempt at a levitation shot.
Karl and the team head to a more dark and desert like area for the next shoot. Here Karl shoots some Natural light fashion shots. As well as bringing out all the big guns as they aim for a truly epic shot.
Inspired by the landscape Karl decides to do a shoot with the theme ‘Fear’. Working with a theme can really inspire you and drive you to even better results in such a scary and intimidating landscape. Again Karl attempts his levitation shot.
It’s a break for the model in this chapter as Karl decides to shoot some landscapes of the desolate wasteland of Iceland with a super wide angle lens and do a few more tests and recces for some potential shots.
In this chapter Karl adds an extra dimension to his landscape shots by adding in the model as well as devising a whole new shot with the model standing in the middle of the road in front of a stunning Icelandic landscape and a dramatic sky.
Some more natural light shoots and a final (and successful) attempt at Karl’s levitation shoot “Spirituality”. This shoot shows you how challenging it can really be and how much work goes in to taking a truly breathtaking shot.
Heading to a new area where they knew there would be moss covered lava meant that Karl and the team would have to yet again battle the brutal Icelandic weather. This was the last shoot on the trip so it was all hands on deck to get the shoot completed before the weather got really bad.
