Interview With Hasselblad Expert Chris Cooze: Hasselblad on the Moon

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landings, Karl welcomed Hasselblad technical expert Chris Cooze to the studio for this exclusive talk show.

Together the pair discussed the history of Hasselblad’s involvement with NASA and some of the facts of the various missions. They looked at various images taken throughout the moon missions and Chris revealed the science and technology involved in photographing in space. Chris also presented one of the Apollo moon cameras, explaining the technology behind it and how it was adapted for space travel.

He also brought some of Hasselblad’s newest releases, including the CFV II and X1D II, explaining the features of each and where Hasselblad hopes to take their technology in the future.

    Truly enjoyed that! With the 50 year lunar landing anniversary this is pretty much as good as it can get!

    I do have two technical questions on the more recent hasselblad cameras though:
    1) does the H6 perform eye/face tracking?
    2) how does the AF of an x1d with H lenses via the adapter compare to AF on the h6?

    1. Hi Kryn, glad you enjoyed the show. In answer to your questions 1. No 2. I’m not 100% on that but it won’t be as quick as the new X1D2 or as with XC lenses that I’m pretty sure on. I’ll see if I can get further info from Chris Cooze and come back to you. Cheers Karl.
