Photography Challenge - Week 32
27th October - 3rd November 2020
If you’ve never considered photographing hands, chairs, or experimenting with light painting, our weekly challenges are the perfect opportunity to get outside your comfort zone and try something new. This is one of the best ways to develop new skills and explore new interests and grow as a photographer. If you’ve missed any of the previous challenges, you can view them all here.
This week's challenge is...
How to get creative
Jewellery photography can be a challenging genre of photography, but when done right it can result in some stunning images.
Although it can be somewhat difficult to highlight important details or achieve sufficient depth of field when photographing tiny objects, this type of photography can also provide some great opportunities to experiment with creative backgrounds (you’ll see how you can easily design your own backgrounds and props using nothing more than paper card in our jewellery photography classes), try new lighting techniques, or refine important skills.
Whether you’re photographing watches, necklaces, rings or earrings, this week's challenge is the perfect opportunity to practice photographing these items and test your creativity. Think about the purpose of you image and what you want to say with it, what background you're going to use and why, and how you're going to light it.
Below are a couple of classes that may provide some creative ideas and useful information.
About the challenge
We’d love for all our members to get involved in our weekly challenges, but to ensure everyone gets maximum benefit from these, there are a few guidelines...
- Members can submit any one image (taken at any time) for the challenge but in the spirit of the challenge we encourage you to post images taken during the week. A second image can be uploaded to show this (i.e with your phone in shot with the date showing).
- All images submitted to our Facebook group will be displayed in a members gallery on Karl Taylor Education.
- Images should be 2000px on the longest side.
