Photography Challenge - Week 2
31st March - 7th April 2020
Photography challenges are a great way to develop your photography skills, learn new techniques and test your creativity. Over the next 12 weeks we’ll be running a series of weekly photography challenges exclusively for members to help you practice your photography. At the end of this week, Karl will be joined by professional food photographer and stylist Anna Pustynnikova, who will help him review some of the submitted images.
This week's challenge is...
How to get creative
Food — it’s something we already create every day, be it a simple sandwich or a decadent dessert. This week, instead of simply cooking your meals, we’re challenging you to photograph them too! You don’t have to be a professional chef (of food stylist) to create mouthwatering food images. All it takes is some patience and care. Think about what you want to say with your images; narrative is incredibly important when it comes to food photography. Think about your composition, choice of backgrounds and props etc.
If you haven’t already watched our range of food photography classes, below are a few of our most popular classes, from natural light photography to still life shots of fresh fruit. You’ll find a range of professional tips that will greatly help you throughout this challenge. Good luck (and enjoy).
About the challenge
We’d love for all our members to get involved in our weekly challenges, but to ensure everyone gets maximum benefit from these, there are a few guidelines… Members can submit one image of 2000px on the longest edge in our Facebook group using the hashtag #KTEWeeklyChallenge. All images submitted will feature in a gallery on our website and be shown as part of a slideshow during the live image review, but due to a one-hour time limit priority will be given to critiquing a selection of up to 20 images that were taken during the week of the challenge. A complete breakdown of these guidelines can also be found on the Facebook group.
Image Review & Challenge Announcement
Join us live on April 7th, when Karl will be reviewing and offering feedback on images shared by members for week 2 of our photography challenge. He’ll also be answering member's questions live and announcing the challenge for week 3. Take a look at our live photography show schedule.
