02. Composition

Sometimes it’s hard to get consistently good photos, but it’s a whole lot easier when you have a good understanding of composition.

There are a few simple rules which, if you follow, will help make your photos more pleasing to the eye. In this photography class Karl examines a number of different images and explores what elements make each image effective.

You’ll learn about concepts such as the rule of thirds, perspective, symmetry and balance and why each of them is important.

In this photography class we cover the following:

  • How to use your compact camera
  • Composition
  • The rule of thirds: when to use it and when not to use it
  • Perspective
  • Symmetry
  • Balance

To learn more about some of the concepts discussed in this class, take a look at our Photography Quick Start Guide.

  1. Hi Karl
I found this a very simple & effective explanation about, the complex subject of photo composition.
With an easy to understand guide as to the pleasing results, when following & practising with the rule of thirds a specially in the case of a more setup shots.
But also to the value of line perspectives & symmetrical elements to a photo.
And not to be always and only bound to these rules. As the composition of a great shot is as much creative, opportunistic & a chance of luck, that you have to be ready for.
    Thanks Karl
I’m very much enjoying yours classes.
